Our certificate in Church Ministry programme provides students with a basic but solid theological and Biblical knowledge for ministry and further studies. It is designed for Pastors, Church Leaders, Elders, Evangelists, Life-Group Leaders and everyone interested in growing in the knowledge of the Word of God.

CERTIFICATE IN CHURCH MINISTRY
1ST YEAR
 
Know Your Bible
This is designed to serve as foundational course on which every other module is built. It answers the questions of the origin, inspiration, authority and place of Scripture in the life of a believer.
Old Testament Survey 1
This module will serve as an introductory survey to the study of the Old Testament. Special attention will be given to authorship, contents, and major themes of each book, important persons, places and events, Pentateuch, historical and poetic books.

Old Testament Survey 2

This module focusses on the Prophets of the Old Testament. A brief description and summary of each book from historical context, the contents, places, events and message discussed.

New Testament Survey 1
Provides the student with a survey of the New Testament, covering critical issues of authorship, provenance, recipients and major themes: Gospels and Acts.
Biblical Hermeneutics 
This module will equip the student with necessary principles for interpreting the Scripture. The course is practical with ample exegetical exercises.
Christian Doctrine 1 (A)
This is a Systematic Theology module with the doctrine of God and Creation. The nature, essence and attributes of Triune God is explored. The biblical account of creation is explained and various perspectives evaluated against the Scriptures.

Christian Doctrine 1 (B)

This is also called Systematic Theology. Special focus will be Man and Sin. The biblical view of man is explored as God’s apex of creation and special place man was ordained to. The Fall of man and consequence of sin is examined. 

Christian Doctrine 2 (A)
This module is called Christology or Doctrine of Christ and deals with the person and the work of Christ.

Christian Doctrine 2 (B)

In this module focus will be placed on Soteriology or the Doctrine of Salvation. The terms such as conversion, regeneration, justification, righteousness, repentance would form the basis of this module.

Homiletics 1: Sermon Preparation and Delivery

Principles and practices of preparing Biblical sermons with special focus on expository and contextual relevant preaching in South Africa.

O.T Survey 3

This module focusses on the O.T Poetic books and looks at issues of genre, style, context, meaning, message and events.

 

 

CERTIFICATE IN CHURCH MINISTRY
2ND YEAR
 
Christian Doctrine 3 (A)
In this module continuation from 1st year to 2nd year focus will be placed on Pneumatology, that covers the work of the third person of the Trinity.
Christian Doctrine 3 (B)
This module covers Ecclesiology, which consists of Greek words, ekklesia (church) and Logos (discourse). Ecclesiology is study of Christian Church’s understanding of her structures, forms, governance, practices. 

Christian Doctrine 4

In this module focus will be placed on Eschatology. The module deal with books such as Revelation and other apocalyptic books to understand the Doctrine of the Last Days. Different millennium viewpoints will be looked at and examine against the Scriptures. 

New Testament Survey 2

This module provides the student with a survey of the New Testament, covering critical issues of authorship, provenance, recipients and major themes. Focus is on Epistles and Revelation.

Pastoral Theology  
This module will offer Biblical perspectives and foundational theory and practice for pastoral ethics, care and counseling. Topics will include among others: counseling skills, referrals and documentation, ethical practice, confidentiality and circle of care.
Christian Ethics
This course will address the issue of personal Christian ethics before engaging social ills and how Christians should respond to the: Poverty, Crime, HIV/AIDS, Peace and Reconciliation etc. We will also deal with marraige and family life.
Evangelism and Church Planting
In this course, the student will be introduced to various evangelistic methods. Special attention on the life and ministry of Christ as well as the Book of Acts to serve as evangelistic model.
Church History
An overview of the historical development of the Church form early Church to modern era. Key events, theological development and people will be discussed.

Homiletics 2: Sermon Preparation and Delivery

This module is in-depth practice to prepare biblically sound sermons by applying principles and practices to enhance expository and contextually relevant preaching.

Devotional Books Reading

This module deals with classical writings of Puritans and Reformers from 16th Century onwards. In a structured and systematic way, students engage in reflective devotional reading for spiritual growth, renewal and inner transformation. Class pesentations or summary of selected books are used for assesssment.

WALK THROUGH THE BIBLE (WTB)
 
This programme is an in-depth study of the whole Bible in the context of the big storyline of God’s ongoing redemptive work. This course works through all 66 books of the Bible in a three year period. You can join at any point of the programme and continue until all 66 books have been covered.
