Our solid foundation programme provide students with a basic but solid theological and biblical knowledge for ministry and further studies. It is designed for Pastors, church leaders, elders, evangelists, life-group leaders and everyone interested in growing in the knowledge of the Word of God.
CERTIFICATE IN CHURCH MINISTRY
KNOW YOUR BIBLE
This module is designed to serve as foundational course on which every other module is built. It answers the questions of the origin, inspiration, authority and place of Scripture in the life of believers.
OT SURVEY I
This module will serve as an introductory survey to the study of the Old Testament. Special attention will be given to authorship, contents and major themes of each book, important persons, places, and events: Pentateuch, Histori-cal and Poetic books.
NT SURVEY I
Basic NT Survey I provides the student with a survey of the NT, covering critical issues of authorship, provenance, re-cipients and major themes: Gospels, Acts and Revelation.
PRINCIPLES OF BIBLICAL INTERPRETATION (HERMENEUTICS)
This module will equip the student with necessary princi-ples for interpreting the Scripture. The course is meant to be practical with ample exegetical exercises.
CHRISTIAN DOCTRINES I
This is also called Systematic theology. Special focus will be on the doctrine of God, and creation, man and sin.
CHRISTIAN DOCTRINES II
Soteriology and Christology.
NT EXEGESIS: SELECT BOOK
SPIRITUAL FORMATION I
Spiritual Formation I will deal with the issue of Christian leaders’ character and spiritual development. Based on the Scripture and insights from history, students will be encouraged to embark on a journey of spiritual transfor-mation and renewal.
PASTORAL ETHICS, CARE AND COUNSELLING
This module will offer biblical perspectives and founda-tional theory and practice for pastoral ethics, care and counselling. Topics will include among others: basic counselling skills, referrals and documentation, ethical practice, confidentiality and circle of care.
HOMILETICS: SERMON PREPARATION AND DELIVERY
Basic principles and practice of preparing biblical ser-mons with special focus on expository and contextual relevant preaching in South Africa.
ADVANCED CERTIFICATE IN CHURCH MINISTRY
OT SURVEY II
This module will serve as an introductory survey to the study of the Old Testament. Special attention will be given to authorship, contents and major themes of each book, important persons, places, and events: Major and Minor Prophets.
NT SURVEY II
Basic NT Survey I provides the student with a survey of the NT, covering critical issues of authorship, prove-nance, recipients and major themes: the Epistles (21).
OT EXEGESIS: SELECT BOOK
Exposition of the book.
CHRISTIAN DOCTRINES III
An overview of Christian doctrines with a specific focus on Pneumatology and Ecclesiology.
CHRISTIAN DOCTRINES IV
An overview of Christian doctrines with a specific focus on Eschatology.
SPIRITUAL FORMATION II
Building on Spiritual Formation I, this module will further look at leaders’ character formation. The students will be introduced to the English Puritans such as Richard Baxter, John Owen as well as other godly men and women of our time as model of godly living under Christ.
CHRISTIAN ETHICS, MARRIAGE AND-FAMILY LIFE
This course will address the issue of personal Christian ethics before engaging social ills and how Christians should respond to them: Poverty, Crime, HIV/AIDS, Peace and Reconciliation, etc. We will also deal with mar-riage and family life.
EVANGELISM AND CHURCH PLANTING
In this course, the student will be introduced to various evangelistic methods. Special attention on the life and ministry of Christ as well as the Book of Acts to serve as evangelistic model.
INTRODUCTION TO CHILDREN AND YOUTH MINISTRY
The course will provide students with basic foundation for specialized children and youth ministry.
SOLID FOUNDATION ON CHURCH HISTORY
An overview of the historical development of the church from the early church to the modern era. Key events, theological development and people will be discussed.
